Spent Fuel Workshop 2009

The Spent Fuel Workshop, organized by Frank Garisto (NWMO) and David Shoesmith was held at the Intercontinental Hotel (Toronto Centre). The two-day workshop accommodated presenters from leading organizations in spent nuclear fuel management from Canada, Germany, France, Sweden, Finland, Spain and USA.

With 23 presentations, the workshop was a good chance for participants to exchange views on the understanding of processes involved in the spent nuclear fuel behaviour in long-term underground repositories. Students had a priceless opportunity to get very current information about the topic and to have informal conversations with the experts in the area. The workshop was a very big success and will be continued next time in Spain.
